Thierry Breton to unveil the highly anticipated Digital Market Act (DMA)on December 15th in Brussels


This Digital Market Act (DMA) aims at making economic regulation of platforms fit for the digital age.


The European Commission's bill is said to include an ex ante regime for digital gatekeeper platforms and market investigations tool to be able to analyse markets’ deviant practices and a precise targeting on how certain markets are prone to failure.


The new competition tool will give to authorities investigation powers. The European Commission is said to be able to impose behavioural and also structural remedies. The new tool proposal would go hand in hand with the Digital service act.


Concerning the Digital Services Act, will introduce new rules covering a wide range of areas of digital economy from content moderation to online advertising and transparency of algorithms.
